Quick answer
Allow connections from LAN lets another trusted device use the VPN connection from your ClickVPN device.
For example, you can connect ClickVPN on one device, then let another device on the same Wi-Fi network use that connection through its proxy settings.
Use this only on networks you trust.
When to use it
This feature can help when another device cannot run ClickVPN directly, but it can use manual proxy settings.
Common examples:
- a laptop, phone, tablet, TV, or media device on the same Wi-Fi network;
- a device where you cannot install ClickVPN;
- a device where you only need temporary VPN access;
- a trusted hotspot or tethering setup.
How to open it
- Open ClickVPN.
- Go to Settings.
- Open Allow connections from LAN.
The same menu names are used across supported ClickVPN apps.
What you will see
Allow LAN clients
Turn this on to let other trusted devices connect through your ClickVPN device.
Turn it off when you are done.
Current IP
This is the address of your ClickVPN device on the local network.
You will enter this address on the other device as the proxy host or proxy server.
SOCKS5 Proxy port
Use this port if the other device supports SOCKS5 proxy.
The default port is 10808.
HTTP Proxy port
Use this port if the other device supports HTTP proxy.
The default port is 10809.
Hotspot or tethering
If you are sharing through a hotspot or tethering network, the other device still needs manual proxy settings.
Use the Current IP and one of the proxy ports shown in ClickVPN.
How to connect another device
- Connect ClickVPN on the device that will share the VPN connection.
- Open Settings -> Allow connections from LAN.
- Turn on Allow LAN clients.
- Note the Current IP.
- Choose SOCKS5 Proxy port or HTTP Proxy port.
- On the other device, open Wi-Fi or network proxy settings.
- Enter the Current IP as the proxy host.
- Enter the chosen port as the proxy port.
- Save the settings and test the connection.
The exact proxy settings screen depends on the other device.
Security tip
Only enable Allow LAN clients on trusted networks.
Do not use it on public Wi-Fi, hotel Wi-Fi, airport Wi-Fi, cafe Wi-Fi, or any network where you do not know who else is connected.
When you no longer need it, turn Allow LAN clients off.
How this is different from Local Network
Local Network in Split Tunneling helps your ClickVPN device reach nearby devices, such as printers, routers, or TVs.
Allow connections from LAN works in the other direction: it lets other trusted devices use the VPN connection from your ClickVPN device.
If something does not work
Check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi or local network.
Check that Allow LAN clients is turned on.
Check that the Current IP and port were entered correctly on the other device.
Reconnect VPN after changing the setting or proxy port.
If you are using a hotspot or tethering network, make sure the other device is connected to that network and has proxy settings configured.
